Regulation Definition
The by-law on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (KKDİK) was published and entered into force by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change on June 23, 2017. KKDİK is a comprehensive regulation designed to protect human health and the environment from the adverse effects of chemicals.
Scope and Obligations
Under KKDİK, substances and monomers supplied to the Turkish market, either on their own or within mixtures/polymers, in quantities of 1 ton or more per year, must be registered unless specifically exempted.
Representation and Consultancy
Non-Turkish manufacturers may fulfill registration requirements via an Only Representative based in Turkey, as per Article 9 of KKDİK. Professional consultancy and reliable representation are essential for meeting legal and technical obligations.
Chemical Safety Report and Safety Data Sheet
The Chemical Safety Report (CSR) must be prepared and signed by certified experts under KKDİK. As of 31/12/2023, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) must also be prepared by certified Chemical Assessment Experts, in accordance with Annex-2 and Annex-18 of KKDİK.
